Botanical Basics with Roberta Rosenthal, Students will learn the basics of accurate botanical drawing essential for detailed paintings. Line art, shading, perspective, proportion and plant anatomy are explored. Magnifiers are used to see plant parts. Botanical Drawing Basics uses graphite pencil on tracing paper and good quality drawing papers. As you increase your drawing skills, use watercolor pencil and watercolor. Mandala Workshop with Beverly Brand Donato, The circle, an ancient symbol will become a container for your thoughts and cherished ideas. Abstraction with Nuala Clarke, Many people have a desire to paint abstractly but don’t quite know how to go about it. This one day workshop will help you get started in a relaxed and experimental atmosphere. Using practical exercises such as doodling, collaboration, accidental and alternative mark making we will open up and let go of assumptions in order to get to a place of authentic abstraction. Please bring drawing materials such as pencil or charcoal and paper, and painting materials (my preference is for acrylic on watercolor paper) and one item not usually used to put on paint.

All Creatures Great and Small with William Noonan, From pet poodles to demonic dragons this class encourages students to explore the world of fauna from the near and dear to the far off and imagined. Students will draw or paint from a variety of supplied materials including: photographs, historical paintings, diagrams. Students may also bring in their own reference material.
