The Orange County Arts Council Open Studio Tour-South will take place on October 22 & 23 from 11am-5pm each day and will showcase the Southern portion of the county (those artists and studios who work or reside south of Route 84). The purpose of the Open Studio Tour is to provide the public with a self-guided tour of local art studios and forums. Orange County artists are invited to open their doors to the public in an effort to educate and create a dialogue between artists and the general public and to bring about a broader knowledge of the arts. The Open Studio Tour provides a rare opportunity for the public to observe artists up close and personal during their creative process from start to finish. Artists are able to so by offering explanations and demonstrations of their materials and art process.
The brochure will be an 11×17 folded brochure with a map of Orange County on one side highlighting each location with corresponding contact information and description of each studio on the back. In addition to a small fee requested from each location, advertisers and sponsorships will be solicited to offset the cost of printing. Two thousand maps will be distributed throughout the county in galleries, local lodging, businesses, eateries, art organizations, tourist information centers and on the Orange County Arts Council web site (www.ocartscouncil.org). On the Friday prior to the Open Studio Tour, October 21, there will be an Open Studio Preview Reception where each artist can submit one piece and promotional materials for display.
Applications are availablefor download on the Arts Council’s website www.ocartscouncil.org or call us at 845-469-9168 to request one through the mail.
