Beyond the 3 “F”s

Arts in Orange Offers Audience Building Workshop for Performing, Visual and Literary Artists

Join Arts in Orange and the Arts Council of Rockland to bring critically acclaimed, multi-award winning performer/director Richard Skipper on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. for Beyond the 3 “F”s — a “how to” workshop on building audiences and creating a following for performers, visual artists, writers and any other individual or group looking to expand their fan base and reach beyond their borders. Skipper, a career consultant and co-producer of the 2010 and 2011 Bistro Awards brings years of experience to this workshop. Beyond the 3 “F”s (friends, family, fellow performers/artists) will focus on how to get you the attention that you need. Topics include how to use the Internet to your advantage in marketing; how to get your name “out there”; cold calling; creating a contract specific to your needs; how to create a press kit that shows you to your best possible advantage and more! Attendees are surveyed before the workshop to determine their needs. Richard customizes the workshop so that each participant gets their questions answered.

The workshop will be held at the Council’s Spring Valley office located at 185 North Main Street, Spring Valley, New York. The workshop is free for members of the Arts in Orange and $25 for non-members. Space is limited. Reservations can be made by calling 845-956-0005, e-mailing info@artsinorange.org or by visiting www.artsinorange.org.

Over the past 19 years, Richard Skipper has received artistic and critical acclaim performing as Carol Channing. His off-Broadway tribute to Carol Channing garnered 25 rave reviews. For the past two years he has been the associate producer of The Bistro Awards in association with Sherry Eaker. He appears in Dori Berenstein’s documentary film “Carol Channing: Larger Than Life” which premiered on April 23, 2011 at The Tribeca Film Festival. In February 2011, Richard debuted “To Carol Channing, With Love” (now available for booking!) at Blame It On Midnight in Palm Springs. It honored Carol Channing’s 90th birthday and was a benefit for Channing’s Foundation for the Arts. A successful blogger, (“Richard Skipper Presents”) Richard writes about an entertainment world that seldom exists anymore.

In addition to performing, producing and writing, Richard teaches workshops on “How to Make a Living as an Entertainer” and has served on several panels focusing on the business end of the entertainment world.

The Arts Council strives to be a fragrance-free workplace. Attendees are asked to please refrain from wearing perfumes, colognes or other strong scents. This event is co-sponsored with Arts in Orange and the Arts Council of Rockland and made possible, in part, with funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency and with a generous grant from KeyBank.
