THANK YOU! Orange County Arts Council would like to thank TD Bank, Stewart Shops and Yellow Freight for sponsoring our upcoming All-County Dance Celebration scheduled for Sunday, April 29th at the Paramount Theatre in Middletown (see Mark Your Calendars below for more information). Thank you also to Nelson Page from the Paramount for being a real partner and working with us to make this event successful and to Orange Magazine for doing a story (watch for next month’s issue).

WELCOME! Please join the Orange County Arts Council in welcoming its newest board members: Tom Kennedy, Partner and CPA with O’Connor Davies Munns & Dobbins, LLP; Juan Oelofse, VP Commercial Lending for TD Bank; and Tiombe Tallie Carter, founder of Tallie Carter Law and president of NIME 360 LLC, an entertainment consulting, event management and planning company. We are thrilled to have these wonderful people working with us and look forward to benefiting from their expertise and putting it to good use in our support and advocacy for Orange County arts.

Car Show Date has been changed! The date of the Arts Council’s Arts and Car Show Fundraiser has been changed to Sunday, August 12, 2012 and it looks like we will be holding the event at the Warwick Drive-In. We are still looking for more interested people to sit on a committee to help plan the event.  Please emaildawn@ocartscouncil.org if you are interested in serving on this committee. Thank you to Floyd, Nan and David for offering to help and many thanks to Linda Nilon of Gillin Custom Designs for being the inspiration and our primary partner on this event!

Warwick Valley Gardeners Plant Sale The Warwick Valley Gardeners are hosting their annual plant sale at the Pine Island Town Park on Saturday, June 2.  The event will have a butterfly theme to celebrate the inclusion and opening of a Butterfly Garden. The Gardeners would love to open this up to artists who are interested in participating as well. If you have any butterfly-themed art or art activities you would like to share during this event, please contact Jane Hamburger atmjbhamburger@gmail.com. Any interactive Arts experiences for the young and the young-at-heart are especially appreciated.

Orange Classic 10K Race To demonstrate the connection between arts and good health, the Orange County Arts Council has been asked to help create an Arts Presence at this year’s Orange Classic 10K Race being held on Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3. Saturday’s race is a youth event from 9am to 11am and Sunday is for the adults from 8:30 to noon. This event has a history of attracting upwards of 2,000 people and the Arts Council will have a tent in the middle of the activity. If you are interested in displaying, offering demonstrations, organizing interactive arts activities, etc. at this event, please contact Dawn at 845-469-9168 or dawn@ocartscouncil.org.
