The Orange County Arts Council, as part of its efforts to develop a county-wide Film Office, is hosting its next SPARK event on Monday, August 26th at 6:00pm at the Downing Film Center in Newburgh. SPARK provides an opportunity for everyone to be a Supporter of the Arts for an evening and is designed to use community-driven financial support to democratically fund local art-makers. August’s SPARK event will focus on local film and animation projects. Anyone who has a project they would like to submit should download a proposal template from the Arts Council website at www.ocartscouncil.org or request one atjen@ocartscouncil.org. The 2013 Open Studio Tour will take place over TWO weekends this year and will cover studios located throughout Orange County. Artists will be available within their own studio, in a shared studio with other artists, or in a HUB location where several artists will be demonstrating. The purpose of the Open Studio Tour is to provide the public with a self-guided tour of local visual art studios and venues. The Open Studio Tour provides a rare opportunity for the public to observe working artists during the creative process. Artists should be prepared to offer explanations and demonstrations of their materials and art process.
