The Warwick Art League invites all artists to attend free weekly art sessions to paint, draw and more from your own set-up or photos on Tuesday mornings from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Greenwood Lake Public Library at 79 Waterstone Road, Greenwood Lake, New York.

Deb Lucke is leading a picture book/ graphic novel workshop at Garrison Art Center

For those imaginative types who would like to create a picture book or graphic novel this is an exploratory class in coming up with ideas and starting to develop your story with words and pictures. We’ll start with a two-frame narrative sequence and move on. Artists and writers welcome. Bring a pencil, sketchbook, and sense of humor.

Wish I could Paint with Pastels! With Shawn Dell Joyce-a one-day class covering the basics of how to use pastels, different types/hardnesses of pastels, different papers and surfaces, tools and techniques. Make a still life painting! Materials provided $50 1:30-4:30  THIS FRIDAY Feb. 19

Pet Portrait Workshop with Carrie Jacobson-Anyone who loves animals can paint them! In this daylong workshop, we will use photographs to make two expressive paintings of pets. Discover how your love and knowledge of animals can translate into bright, fun paintings. Any skill level is acceptable. Palette-Knife Painting Workshop with Carrie Jacobson-Learn to use the palette knife to make expressive and dynamic paintings. The knife helps a painter focus on the large shapes and the light in a scene. It liberates you from detail and offers a way to speed your work, too. Solving the New York Times Crossword Puzzle with Ed Stein-This hands-on session given by veteran crossword solver-constructor Ed Stein promises to make you smarter about puzzle-solving. You’ll get time-tested strategies and pointers, learn how to read a clue, and how to keep your mind flexible when solving.  Finally, together we’ll solve a brand new Sunday Times crossword edited by Times Puzzle Editor Will Shortz! Flintknapping with Ben Waring-Learn an ancient method of chipping away crystalline stone to create a practical tool or primal artwork. Understand basic stone structure, geography, and connect with primal processes that ensured our species survival! Middletown Art Group Sunday at the Senior Center, 70 West Main St., Middletown , NY, Feb.21 1:30 PM, Demonstration by Joan Kehlenbeck.
Joan earned an Associates Degree in Applied Science with a major in Art from Orange County Community College. Along with her numerous exhibits, demonstrations and workshops, she is owner and manager of “Romantic Silk Florals” and is currently President of River Valley Artists Guild.
For her demonstration “Illusion of Motion in Pastel,” she will recreate an ocean scene.
Joan is currently having an exhibit, “Hopeless Romantic” at Kate’s Café, 79 Pike St., Port Jervis, NY during the month of February.
