2nd annual Peace Awards Art Show and Sale. This year, the exhibition will run for two weeks here at Shadowcliff from September 25 to October 9, 2010. This year’s theme is Peace of the Action. A play on words, Peace of the Action speaks to being a “piece” or part of an active flow, while also referring to a state of wholeness and serenity within a movement for peace. As in 2008, the art show is a fundraiser; FOR will be splitting the proceeds 50/50 with 1participating artists. However, this year, there is a $20. entry fee.

I’ve attached our flyer and entry guidelines. Let me know if you’d like to participate again and I’ll send you the entry form. I look forward to hearing from you.

A new store and gallery space, Dream in Plastic, is opening in Beacon, NY. They are celebrating their grand opening, Saturday August 8th, and will also be hosting their very first gallery exhibit: Analog – A Plastic Camera Photo Exhibit.

They are still accepting entries for the show. If you are a plastic camera photographer, email Dream in Plastic for more information.

Submission guidelines:
- No larger than 24″ in either direction.
- Ready to hang, with proper framing. No alligator clips please.
- Multiple submissions accepted.
- Photographs will be available for sale.
- Photograph MUST have been taken with a plastic or toy camera!
- Any subject matter accepted.
- You are not required to attend the show to have your work included.

2nd Annual Art in the Garden Saturday, June 27

Nearly 30 area artists will display their work at Warwick Gardens’ Art in the Garden, to be held on Saturday, June 27, from 3 to 8 p.m. (Rain date: Sunday, June 28.)

Jennifer Wardell and Tom Revelle, owners of Warwick Gardens, said that this second annual event will feature paintings, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, photography and other artwork set among the perennial beds and arching trees on their 18-acre property — combining the beauty of art with the beauty of nature.

Michael Purcell will play jazz and wine from local wineries will be served at the event.

All artwork on display will be available for sale and all artists will be on hand to discuss their work.

Participating artists include: Cathe Linton, Ginger Schmidt, Jeannette Ornstein, Howard Fields, Miriam Arocho, Terrie Wynne, Claudia Pflueger, Chris Bennington, Patricia Quinn, Linda Hanavan, Mena Messina, Karen Decher, Barbara Bressi, Amity Arts Pottery, James Van Gelder, Heidi Bilezikian, Susan Baresel, Susan Christison, Margaret Tench, Joyce Ferris, Daniel Grant and Ingela Noren, Elaine M. Garvin, Sanjib Mallik, Rhoda Mack, Jin Sun Bradner, Louis Fatta, Janet Howard-Fatta and others.

Warwick Gardens is located at 29 Foley Road in Warwick.

Warwick Artists Open Studios

Beginning this month, the Orange County Arts Council and Orange County Tourism have teamed up to create a new kind of Open Studio experience for tourists and for the local community. While private artist studios around the county are open to the public for select hours, the artists of the Warwick area are banding together to provide an ongoing weekend experience of the arts in our community. The Warwick artists are providing a map of open studios for that weekend ramble through the countryside. You can take a weekend drive to visit one or more studios, or take a grand tour of all studios. Most studios are open for mid-day Sunday hours, and a few are open on Saturday only. Check the map available at the Chamber of Commerce for open studio hours. Maps will be available at individual studios as well. Art Extravaganza 2009 at the Greenwood Lake Library

It’s time for the Art Extravaganza 2009!

View the work of WAL member Mary Jo Ben-Nun and ten other artists on Sunday, April 26th, from 12:30-2:30 p.m.

This annual public art exhibition will be held in the Greenwood Lake Library’s Program Room where this year’s alumni artists will be exhibiting their extraordinary works of art. Come meet local artists Mary Jo Ben-Nun, Sonia Centeno-Dainty, Irene Corrado, Arthur Gilmore, Ken Gormley, Jamie Kaminski, and Sintora Vanderhorst!

Refreshments will be served. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration not required.
