All levels welcome and will gain from this unorthodox approach.

Time: 1 – 3:30pm
Where: Jill’s studio in Warwick Cost: $200 for all 4 sessions paid in advance (however, if 5 or more people enroll, the price will go down)

Deadline: May 19.

Call or email Jill Duffy with any questions – 845 544 1743

This is NOT your conventional painting course! Challenging traditional notions of painting, this class ignores usual “rules” and gives the imagination a chance to soar by applying new methods to the artistic process. Bascha Mon encourages you to stretch beyond previous painting boundaries and where you are comfortable.

You may work in any combination of media – 2D or 3D. Combine paper, cardboard, canvas, wood, metal, styrofoam, etc. to create unique constructions. Bascha works with individuals who are representational as well as those who are transitioning to a more abstract approach.

The use of different size brushes encourages a variety of marks. Linear elements and/or words are examples of ways to stretch your approach. Color, form, space, composition and conceptual thinking are all part of the creation of an individual piece. Bascha brings current contemporary artists to your attention – through articles online, magazines, etc.”Seeing” results in understanding and expanding your visual response to your own work and art seen in galleries and museums. “Seeing” is not the same as looking. We will find the best that each of you is capable of creating. Expand and enrich through this group experience.

Bascha approaches each student with an eye to understand what has been done before and what one hopes to learn. She has been teaching for over 15 years and creating and exhibiting art for over 40 years.

What you’ll need for the class:

- Portable easel
- Some samples of previous work (photos or actual pieces) – this will help Bascha see where you are and where you want to be
- Large pieces or cardboard or brown paper if you are not very experienced (freeing you from worrying about $ as you experiment)
- Any media you prefer
- Variety of colors, brushes and pallet knives
- if painting in oil, liquin will speed up drying time

To register for this class, Call or email Jill Duffy 845 544 1743
